... for the Tenth Circuit, that is. As Article III Groupie previously predicted, Chief Judge James H. Payne, of the Eastern District of Oklahoma, has been nominated to replace judicial hottie Stephanie K. Seymour (10th Cir.). (Gavel bang: Howard Bashman.)
Also via How Appealing: the news that Magistrate Judge Kristi DuBose has been nominated for the Southern District of Alabama seat formerly held by Judge Charles R. Butler, Jr., and that attorney W. Keith Watkins has been nominated for the Middle District of Alabama seat formerly held by Judge William Harold Albritton III.
Are you mad at A3G for the misleading title of this post? Okay, she will make it up to you, by offering up the latest SCOTUS scuttlebutt. Check out Erick's latest Confirm Them post: "Two names in today’s IM, phone, and email buzz -- most from people asking what I know. The names are Corrigan and Alito."
Third Circuit Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., has made many appearances in the pages of this blawg (and at his local Shoprite). Back in November 2004, A3G identified Judge Alito, along with then-Judge Roberts, as a leading SCOTUS candidate. In March of this year, A3G compared Judge Alito to actress Kate Winslet.
Underneath Their Robes is a blog devoted to federal judges; as a state court judge, Justice Maura D. Corrigan of the Michigan Supreme Court has only appeared in UTR once before. The fact that Justice Maura Corrigan hasn't been discussed here much isn't surprising, in light of UTR's general avoidance of state court judges (whom A3G regards as icky). But A3G would now like to sprinkle her blog with a few mentions of Justice Corrigan. If Justice Corrigan gets the nomination, A3G doesn't want to miss out on the resulting spike in blog traffic!
Vindicated at last! You may remember that I posted this question (which you ignored): "What about Michigan Supreme Court Justice Maura Corrigan?" in response to "Absolutely Fabulous: Dancing Queen Makes the Short List!"
