Yesterday afternoon, in Chicago, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor delivered a speech to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Here's the money quote (click here, scroll down to the sixth paragraph):
The judge is more than his jurisprudence. Underneath their robes, so to speak, the justices of the Supreme Court are real and often quite unique people.
A3G couldn't agree more! As one UTR reader remarked, "I don't think she could have said it any better... [The quotation] perfectly sums up the reasons for your fine blog."
Another correspondent shared these funny and insightful comments with A3G:
My friends and I just love your blog. I'm emailing you because I came across this article reporting on a speech Justice O'Connor delivered Saturday.
Check out the sixth paragraph down. I think it's a sly yet unmistakable shout-out to your blog! I doubt the audience for O'Connor's speech -- the American Society of Plastic Surgeons!!! -- picked up on it. Could it be possible that Justice O'Connor reads Underneath Their Robes? Or was it a clever reference inserted by a speechwriting clerk? Either way, your fame knows no bounds.
And what's O'Connor doing addressing an audience of plastic surgeons? Is a certain "unemployed cowgirl" thinking of getting a little nip/tuck -- perhaps in hopes of cracking next year's list of judicial superhotties? What's next -- O'Connor appearing on Tyra?
OK, I'm getting carried away -- I'll leave the judicial humor to you. Keep up the great work.
Delightful! A3G is tickled pink. And if you know the answers to any of the questions posed in the reader email quoted above, please contact her. Thanks!
