Peter Jennings, the former anchorman and senior editor of "World News Tonight" on ABC News, passed away yesterday at his home in New York. He was 67, and he died of lung cancer. On behalf of the readers of UTR, Article III Groupie sends condolences and sympathies to the Jennings family.
A3G would also note that Mr. Jennings, in addition to reporting numerous news stories concerning major legal events, had a more personal connection to the federal judiciary. As noted by the New York Times, "Mr. Jennings's personal life was at times grist for the gossip pages," and he was married four times. What the Times fails to mention is that in between his second and third marriages, Peter Jennings dated the #1 Female Superhottie of the Federal Judiciary, the glamorous and gorgeous Judge Kimba M. Wood (S.D.N.Y.). (For more details, including the movie that they saw on one of their dates, click here.)
Not everyone gets to travel around the world, to witness the most important historical events of our time, and to date a federal judicial hottie. Despite his passing at a relatively young age, Mr. Jennings clearly led a full, fabulous, and fantastically accomplished life. In the words of President Bush, "[a] lot of Americans relied upon Peter Jennings for their news. He became a part of the life of a lot of our fellow citizens, and he will be missed. May God bless his soul."
