Supreme Court Clerks: They're a National Obsession!

Here is an article about an interesting new book, Sorcerers' Apprentices: 100 Years of Law Clerks at the United States Supreme Court, by Artemus Ward and David L. Weiden.

And it's not the only forthcoming book about the Elect. In April, Stanford University Press will be publishing Courtiers of the Marble Palace: The Rise and Influence of the Supreme Court Clerk, by Todd C. Peppers (which Article III Groupie previously blogged about here).

Back to the Future: OT 2007 Hiring

Article III Groupie previously reported on Justice Clarence Thomas getting a head start on his law clerk hiring for October Term 2007.* And CT's not the only one who has started picking his clerkly cherry blossoms here in the nation's capital.

Earlier this week, C.J. Mahoney -- current editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal, and future clerk to the super-hot Judge Alex Kozinski -- was hired by Justice Anthony M. Kennedy for the 2007-2008 Term. This should come as no surprise. Kozinski clerks who serve as EICs of the YLJ are on an express train to the Kennedy chambers. In addition, rumor has it that Justice Stephen G. Breyer has hired two clerks, both white males, for OT 2007. If you can confirm or deny, or supply A3G with their names, please drop her a line.

* A3G isn't the only one who is a little confused about CT's hiring for OT 2006; Amber Taylor's comprehensive list of OT 2006 clerks also reflects a lack of clarity. Justice Thomas seems to be shuffling clerks around between the two Terms. If you can explain what the heck is going on to A3G, please email her.
