Law Firm Life: It Doesn't Make You Pretty

Young_harriet_miers_2 Cybill_shepherd

Back in the mid-1980s, Harriet Miers was something of a hottie. Take a look at the photograph on the far right (Randy Eli Grothe/The Dallas Morning News). This picture of Miers was taken just after her election as president of the Dallas Bar Assocation, and it's not hard to see why people voted for her in droves. Back then, Harriet Miers, the young Texas lawyer, resembled Jacy Farrow (near right), the young Texas beauty so memorably portrayed by Cybill Shepherd in The Last Picture Show.

But time has not been kind to Harriet Miers; the many stressful years of life at a big law firm have taken their toll on her. Compare the photograph of Miers shown above with these more recent pictures.

(A3G, note to self: You've got to get the hell out of here!)

If Harriet Miers was "something of a hottie" then G.W. Bush is something of an intellectual.

Is it me, or do some of those more recent shots of Miers make her look just a little too much like Emperor Palpatine? Hmm, maybe that explains everything...

Along with a 401(k) and a hefty salary, BIGLAW needs to throw in a lifetime supply of Creme de la Mer!
